Obituary for Joseph L. Maher, Jr.

JOSEPH L. MAHER, JR., 96, of Jackson Twp., NJ, passed away on Wednesday, October 10, 2018, at Sunrise of Jackson, Jackson Twp. He was born in the Bronx, NY, and resided in River Edge, NJ, prior to settling in Jackson Twp., 20 years ago.
Joseph was a United States Army Veteran, serving as a Private First Class with the 262nd Infantry during WWII. He was a Purple Heart recipient and also earned the American Campaign Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and the World War II Victory Medal.
He was a graduate of New York University earning a degree in Mathematics.
Joseph was employed as an Engineering Project Manager with Bendix Corporation, Teterboro, NJ, retiring in 1988.
He was predeceased by his Wife, Joan Maher in 2010. Joseph is survived by his son, Thomas Maher and his wife, Donna of Upper Saddle River, NJ; his daughter, Kathryn Strang and her husband, Steve of Jackson Twp., NJ; and by his 4 grandchildren, Colleen Maher of Orlando, FL, Brian Maher and his wife, Tiffany of Orlando, FL, Kaitlyn Strang of Chapel Hill, NC, and Lyndsay Strang of West Palm Beach, FL.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his interment Chapel Service with Military Honors at 12:30 PM on Wednesday, October 24, 2018, in Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 350 Provinceline Rd., Arneytown, NJ 08562. Please gather at 12:15 PM at the Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting contributions be made in Joseph’s memory to the Rowan College at Burlington County Scholarship Foundation, 900 College Circle, Mount Laurel, NJ 08054 and would be greatly appreciated.
