Obituary for Nicholas Klemm, Jr.

Nicholas  Klemm, Jr.
NICHOLAS KLEMM, JR., 93, of Jackson Twp., NJ, passed away on Saturday, October 27, 2018, at home. He was born in Pleasantville, NJ, and resided in Jackson Twp. for the past 5 years.
He was employed as a Mechanical Engineer for Atlantic City Electric, Atlantic City, NJ for 23 years, prior to his retirement in 1987.
Nicholas graduated mid-year from Pleasantville High School in 1943 and started at North Carolina State University until his induction in the Army in June of 1943. He served as a Corporal with the 1251st Engineer Combat Battalion in Europe during World War II, helping to build roads and bridges in combat zones. For his service, he received the Good Conduct Medal, the World War II Victory Medal, the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal and the American Campaign Medal. After the war he returned to North Carolina State University and graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
He married Marie Capra in 1952. They resided in Pitman, NJ, for over 55 years. Nick moved to Jackson Twp. in 2013.
During his retirement Nick enjoyed playing golf and traveling with Marie. He also was a talented woodworker, making many pieces of furniture for his family.
Nick was funny, kind and loved by all. He will be greatly missed.
Nicholas was predeceased by his parents, Nicholas and Ethel Klemm; and by his wife, Marie Ann Klemm. He is survived by his son, Nicholas Klemm and his wife, Anne of Loveland, CO; his daughter, Karen Walzer and her husband, Randolph of Jackson Twp; his grandchildren, Mark Walzer and his Wife, Sarah, Suzanne Walzer, Erik Klemm and Jason Klemm; and by his sister, Doris Ireland of Absecon, NJ.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his visitation from 9:30-11:30 AM followed by his Funeral Service at 11:30 AM on Thursday, November 1, 2018, at the GEORGE S. HASSLER FUNERAL HOME, 980 Bennetts Mills Rd., Jackson Twp., NJ. Interment with Military Honors will follow at 1:00 PM in Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 350 Provinceline Rd., Arneytown, NJ. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Nicholas’ memory to Fulfill Food Bank, 3300 Route 66, Neptune, NJ 07753, and would be greatly appreciated.
